An original play, written & directed by Siena Marilyn Ledger. Performed at CSUF Fall 2014.

The Empty Space is the internal journey of the mind through a lifetime. It is a representation of the evolution of the mind and the human experience as it encounters personified concepts such as Time, the Moon, Insanity, and Tomorrow.

Here’s an excerpt from an interview with the playwright.

One of my greatest passions in life has been that of searching to find a way to expose, to tell the story of everything inside, what we often neglect or are simply unaware of–the internal dialogue that serves to create this outer world we see again and again upon the stage, screen, and pages of a book. The world and all its many facets leaves me flabbergasted in wonderment. The thing that fascinates me most is the internal world, the mind–the way it has its own struggles, coming to life throughout the many characters we are each day and the obstacles we face. The mind is a powerful tool we all rely on–to live, to breathe, to tell our stories, to create new ones. In The Empty Space the mind has a voice, a stage, a present moment that unfolds a gripping story that captures a glimpse of life from the inside out told through characters that evolve, grow, and change, thereby giving the mind its ability to stretch to new heights.Watch movie online The Transporter Refueled (2015)

I hope this story will open peoples’ eyes to everything we often neglect, or perhaps are completely unaware of. I hope The Empty Space gives people a new perspective on how to view the world; that people will begin to see that what happens inside the internal world is just as important as the events that transpire in our tangible reality. I hope people can see the parallels between how we relate to ideas and concepts inside our minds and how we deal with different people in our external world. I also want the audience to walk away with a sense of unity; at our core, we all deal with the same things–time, fear, loss, etc. In the external world it shows up in different ways, but internally, the experience is all the same.

For me, the most exciting part of this journey has been seeing it come to life before my eyes. I have my dream cast and crew and each person has made what once was merely an idea of mine become a reality far greater than I could have ever imagined. I love all of them with all that I am, and I have so much gratitude for every person who helped make this dream possible.
